  2. American Flag The Flag is the symbol that represent freedom to our country. This symbol is used to celebrate several holidays such as Veterans Day and Flag Day. The flag is also flown at half mast by order of the president when some one passes or a great tragedy has happen.

  3. American Flag As previously mentioned you can see what an important symbol the flag is to our society as other flags are important to other countries and societies.

  4. George Washington This portrait of our first president is also a symbol of the fight for freedom-The American Revolution. Symbols stir emotions in the viewer and mean something to the country as a whole.

  5. Banners Banners are another political symbol that are used during holidays and political campaigns.

  6. Fireworks Fireworks are used to celebrate the 4th of July. What would their significance be to this holiday?

  7. American Flag Why do we say the pledge of allegiance to the flag? Why is this symbol so important to the American people?

  8. September 11,2001 Some patriotic symbols mark tragedies in our nation’s history that we do not want to forget and portray unforgettable emotions caught on film.

  9. Bald Eagle The Bald Eagle is our nation’s bird and a symbol of freedom just as the flag is.

  10. Independence Hall Archives In this hall is the key to our past the declaration of independence. As with previous symbols this hall stirs emotions of freedom.

  11. The Liberty Bell This is one of our nation’s symbols that signifies independence.

  12. More patriotic symbols This is the independence hall in Philadelphia.

  13. Respect This photo is a symbol of respect for our armed forces.

  14. The President of the Untied States of America The position of president is one of the most respected positions and demands respect from the American people. He embodies our freedoms and hopes for tomorrow.

  15. Uncle Sam Uncle Sam is one symbol that we associate with our military services. During the draft it was stated Uncle Sam wants you.

  16. The Declaration of Independence Drafted by Thomas Jefferson between June 11 and June 28,1776, the Continental Congress adopted the Declaration on July 4, 1776. It was engrossed on parchment and on August2,1776, delegates began to sign it.

  18. Bill of Rights Although 12 amendments were originally proposed, the 10 that were ratified became the Bill of Rights in 1791. They defined citizen’s right in relation to the newly established government under the Constitution.

  23. The Fallen The flag is also used as a shroud of respect for the fallen.

  24. Arlington Memorial Cemetery This cemetery is a place of respect for the fallen soldiers.

  25. Ceremonies Arlington is the site for several ceremonies showing respect for the fallen.
