Two Needs – Two Processes • SCOMIS Case Management Status is the basis for measurement of time-in-process against time standards as an indicator of trial court performance • JIS warrant status guides judicial decision making in criminal, domestic violence, and child custody cases • Understand that different sets of data are used to meet these two needs

  3. COMPLETED SUSPENDED ACTIVE Case status changes indicate clock on and off actions related to: • Warrants • Mediation • Stay or Discretionary Review • Arbitration • Appeal • Continued For Prosecution or Deferred Prosecution • Diversion

  4. Returned/Quashed Issued Ordered Warrant status displays in JIS on case history screens (DCH/ICH) and also in JABS.

  5. The Basic screen displays current case management status.

  6. Status Screen shows history of changes This screen is used to display or update case management status activity changes.

  7. Summary Screen shows time-in-process information

  8. Status changes automatically based on Docket entries in the case Specific Regular Docket Codes begin or end status Specific Proceeding Docket Codes end status JIS warrant status may or may not change when SCOMIS warrant status ends!

  9. Docket entries trigger status to begin

  10. Docket Codes that BEGIN warrant status in SCOMIS also update Case History screens in JIS and Criminal History in JCS to show warrant status.

  11. Docket entries trigger status to end

  12. Docket Codes that END warrant status in SCOMIS. Some also end status in JIS. Any other docket code will NOT change status in SCOMIS.

  13. Proceeding Docket Codes END warrant status in SCOMIS but not in JIS

  14. SCOMIS Warrant status displays in JIS I = Issued O = Ordered N = Past Activity

  15. These Docket Codes have NO affect on case management or warrant status

  16. Change Status Command • Change Status command can change warrant status in SCOMIS only • JIS and JCS history screens will NOT reflect these manual status changes
