  3. Campaign Chair • 1 person • Working with a Hillel professional and your University Programs Associate is key to the success of the campaign • Develop strategies for identifying and recruiting captains

  4. Target Group Committee Chairs September • 4-5 group chairs • Strategize recruitment plan: (who are the key players on your campus?) • Register for UJC’s National Student Leadership Conference in Miami & receive extensive Half Shekel Training in October. • Relate and spread the idea to students incorporated in your group’s special target area. • Remember, your Hillel contact will be on board to assist or guide you on a daily basis throughout the planning and implementation. TOTAL: 6 Members of the campaign

  5. Target Group Sub-Committee October • Participates in UJC’s National Student Leadership Conference to receive Half Shekel training. • Helps to Recruit students within a specific target group (Greeks, Freshmen, Resident halls, etc.) • Helps plan group’s Crush Party. • Motivates others to reach the maximum number of participants in the campaign. Total: 15-16 student participants

  6. Now Recruit General Members at the Half Shek Crush Party!! • Each target group has its own party (we aim high) • Each group invites onehundred students to attend event • Educate and have fun! • Total: 100 Students/party! 100% Participation! Stepping up to 1,000!

  7. Kick-Off!!! Maintain Momentum: Immediatelyafter the Crush Party • Every participant from Crush Party participates in Campaign Kickoff. • Launch Kick-off--plaster campus with a sea of Half Shekel posters. • Educate • Participate • Fun, Music, Ruach • Submit Press release or campaign ad to campus and local newspaper to guarantee community-wide attention *(consult Half Shekel Manual Appendix for sample press release) Total: Over 400 Members!

  8. Campaign/Publicity Blitz • Dorm storming • Classes • Greek Houses • Tabling • Banners and posters • Half Shekel Man • “Coffee talk” (talk with friends/target group over coffee and/or dessert) (see program section of manual for more info. on this)

  9. Mitzvah Day/Closing Rally • Every member of the campaign recruits new members during the week • Everyone does a community service project • Incorporate tzedakah and tikkun olam! • Total numbers (are you ready for this?) up to 1,500 students (if you do it right!)

  10. FOLLOW UP • For a successful campaign--you mustfollow up • Write personal e-mails • Thank-you notes • Public acknowledgement of members’ participation • Enter participants’ information into database • Be personable and maintain connections well after the campaign is over Reach for the Goal!

  11. Still More students untapped? Simply ask for your members to bring more students to each event The idea and concept are easy; the implementation is key. Consult your UP Associate, Hillel Pro., or Half Shekel training manual for further follow upGood luck
