  1. What can you do about Itching after Hair Transplant? Well, there are certain things that you can follow to get rid of your itching to some extent. Here are those things: 1. Avoid sun exposure. Direct sun exposure can be detrimental for you if you have gone through hair transplant surgery. Avoiding sun exposure can help you reduce itching. 2. Avoid swimming. Swimming with a cut on your head is the worst thing you can ever do. You should avoid swimming for at least 15 days after hair transplantation. Swimming will not only lead to increased itching but also will pose the risk of infection. 3. Avoid saunas and hot baths. Don't indulge in any activity such as hot water bathing, saunas, etc. All these are not good for you when you have just undergone a hair transplant. Hot water causes itching (bad itching) and can be detrimental to your hair transplant surgery. 4. Use only medicated shampoo. Make sure you wash your head with medicated shampoos after hair transplant surgery. 5. Avoid smoking and drinking. Avoiding smoking and drinking for a few weeks before and after the surgery can also help you reduce itching after a hair transplant. 6. Apply hair oil or serums. You will be given medicated hair oils post-surgery; make sure you apply them as directed by your doctor in a timely manner. 7. Consume more water. Drinking plenty of water can also help get rid of itching after the surgery! Dehydration also causes itchiness in the body; water helps in keeping the body hydrated. Aside from that, if you have severe itching, you can ask your surgeon for itching medication. Certain medications can help; however, they should only be taken if your doctor has prescribed them. Also, make sure you take your medications as directed and follow all of your surgeon's after-care instructions.

  2. Following these instructions can help you reduce itching. Also, do visit your doctor as advised. Originally Published at: https://articles.abilogic.com/542653/itching-after- hair-transplant-normal.html
