2. Minimize HF Acid Burns • Leak test gloves before use. • If contact with acid is suspected take immediate action: • Decontaminate • Report • Begin medical treatment

Incident Key Points • The site did not have a practice of testing acid gloves before each use. • An Instrument Tech either used a glove with an existing hole or may have punched a hole in the glove from a wire snag while climbing scaffolding. • The instrument being worked on was in “trace acid” service. • Acid contact was not reported for 2-1/2 hours.
