  1. Box pushing work under Relieving Girder at speed restriction of 40 KmphPradeep Ahirkar Sr DEN/Co/BRC

  2. Necessity of work • Hundreds of RUBs are to be constructed on busy trunk routes. The EA available are already insufficient for track works. Hence, it is important to get the LHS constructed with minimum EA consumption without compromising on safety. • On Rajdhani route Surat-Godhara section (200 Kms) of BRC division, about 40 RUBs are to be constructed. EA available is 15 minutes on each line.

  3. Constraints for Speed Raising • Relieving girder for higher speed were not available. • Support arrangement with C C Cribs and wooden sleepers was not safe for higher speed. • Rail clamping arrangements on Relieving Girder to be improved.

  4. Improvements made • Relieving girder fit for 50 Kmph were specially fabricated as per RDSO drawing no RDSO/B-11041R, 1R & 2R. • Special prefabricated welded Box Crib and End crib arrangement were fabricated as per WR drawing no PCE 24019-HQ/TP-2016R (Fit for 40 kmph). • Special insulated mono sleepers were got fabricated for clamping rails as per RDSO drawing no RDSO/B-11041R, 1R & 2R.

  5. Relieving Girder fit for 50 Kmph Overall length 20.40 m, total weight including track 45.00 MT, Depth 832 mm (RL to bottom).

  6. Relieving Girder with proper rail clamp arrangement

  7. Insulated Mono Sleepers for clamping rails

  8. Conventional Support arrangement for Relieving Girder

  9. Improved Prefabricated welded Box Crib Box

  10. Pre fabricated welded Box Crib Salient features….. • Size: 3700 x 3200 mm. • Height: 500 mm. • Frame work of ISA 150 x 150 x 16 on all 4 sides. • 25 mm thick plate on top & bottom. • Weight: 11.50 MT per Box Crib. • Sleepers used: 3 layers – 13 Nos in each layer. Laid parallel and perpendicular to track alternatively.

  11. New support arrangement

  12. Scheme of workingLaunching of Welded Box Crib

  13. Launching of End Crib for gap beyond Relieving girder

  14. Composite Support of Box & End Crib

  15. Composite Support of Box & End Crib

  16. Launching of Relieving Girder

  17. Pushing of Box below the Relieving Girder

  18. Work under this scheme already executed/being executed at 4 Level crossings on Rajdhani route between Surat and Godhara.

  19. Benefits • Work can be executed in Speed restriction of 50 kmph, thereby, reducing the requirement of EA. • The Block requirements for launching & de-launching is less due to : a. Less earthwork excavation is required b. The prefab units can be launched using cranes. • As compared to the conventional support system, less maintenance is required since new support system is compact & sturdy and the rail sleeper arrangement is strong. Hence the arrangement is more safe.
