  2. What is the Progress test • A Comprehensive examination that measures students' achievement towards what is expected at graduation • It is not related to students' level • It tests students’ against the final program outcome • Students from all levels perform the same examination • It does not need intensive revision • It is designed to test the use of knowledge rather than the knowledge itself

  3. Advantages to students • Tests achievements towards the targeted outcomes • Helps identifying strengths and areas that need improvement • Discipline-wise and topic-wise • Helps highlighting most important areas of the curriculum at an early stage • Compares performance to peers in • same college and • in other colleges in the country

  4. Advantage to College • Helps identification of gaps in the curriculum • Helps proper distribution of objectives across study years • Compares results of our students with all students of the same level in the country

  5. Test Questions • 200 MCQs from all medical disciplines • Cover all body systems and • different processes in which graduates are expected to cover • Each question has five limbs • one correct choice, • three distracters, and • "I do not know" option

  6. Marks and Results • There is no pass or fail in the test; • Every student will be compared to his/her classmates • e.g. first year students are compared to first year average marks, • e.g. fifth year students will be compared to fifth year average marks

  7. Marking System • One mark for each correct answer, • Zero mark for "I do not know" option, and • Negative marking for each wrong answer: • (- 0.25 mark )

  8. How to Answer • It is not expected that every student will try all questions • The "I do not know" option encourages students to admit lack of information when present and to prevent unjustified guessing • If you are reasonably sure of your answer, tick it, • If you do not know, select the "I do not know" option so that you do not lose marks

  9. Results • Results of the exam will be declared to each students as: • Percentage score in: • each of the processes, • body systems and • disciplines, • Total score in the test, • The range and average for the batch in each of the above • Averages for different batches in • our college and • other colleges participating in the test

  10. Where, When, and Who? • The exam shall be done in AlMaarefa College, in collaboration with “Qassim University” • Date: • Tuesday 30 April 2013 20 Jumada-II 1434 H • Medical students level four and above • After Foundation blocks
