  2. P D C A PDCA Cycle Overview • Overview - What conditions indicated the need for the project? • The way it was was in the way. So what conditions precipitated the project? • Who or what areas were affected? • Who decided to do something about it?

  3. PLAN D C A PDCA Cycle Overview • What is the Aim Statement? • Answers ‘What are you trying to achieve?’ • Increase/decrease something? • Is it SMART: Single-focused, measurable, action-oriented, realistic, and timely?

  5. PLAN D C A PDCA Cycle Overview • How do you know it is a problem? • What was the baseline measure? • What analysis and data indicated which cause(s) were the problem?

  6. PLAN D C A PDCA Cycle Overview • So, what is the Solution? • Does it cover short and long term resolution? • Does it consider up and downstream departments?

  7. PLAN D C A PDCA Cycle Overview • What is the plan for successful implementation? • Does it include a transition from the old to the new way? • Does it include both cultural and process aspects? • How will it be porous to input to help it adjust along the way?

  8. P DO C A PDCA Cycle Overview • How did the implementation proceed? • What were the bumps and adjustments? • What mid-course corrections made and why? • How long did it take to become the new way? • If it is a pilot, what remains to be changed for rollout?

  9. P D CHECK A PDCA Cycle Overview • What was the Post-Measure? • During and after implementation, find out what happened. Remember to wait until a steady state is achieved. • Was the actual outcome closer than what planned target? • Did something not work out as planned? • What were lessons learned that might help out in the future projects?

  10. P D C ACT PDCA Cycle Overview • What measures and procedures are in place to assure the solution remains effective? • How will you keep the solution evergreen, or current with the change of reality? • What is the rollout plan if the project was just a pilot?
