  2. Qualitative Data is Used at the State Level for: Planning & Reporting • View a Richer Picture of the System • Compare with Quantitative Data • Determine Unmet Needs Regionally and Statewide

  3. Source of Our Qualitative Data? • Plan & Budget Applications • Department Periodic Reports • Consumers/Families • Provider Feedback • Other Documents as Available (e.g., LRC Report, RPC/HB 843)

  4. P&B Applications SFY08 • Adult MH System of Care Plan • Child MH System of Care Plan • Emergency Services Plan • Performance Indicator Targets & Action Plans • Spending Plans & Implementation Reports

Adult System of Care Sample Questions: • How do you assure medication continuity of care for consumers who move from inpatient to outpatient level of care? • Are clinical practice guidelines for individuals with mental illnesses in effect and if so, how are they implemented? • Do you currently provide or “access” payee services for consumers with mental illness in your region? If so, please describe the process.

  6. Child System of Care Sample Questions: • If applicable, please describe ways in which youth or parents/guardians are involved in quality assurance activities (development, dissemination, or analyses, etc.) in your region. • On average, how far ahead must an appointment be scheduled for a routine consultation with a psychiatrist?

  7. Emergency Services Plan Sample Questions: • Please describe how the required KRS 202A evaluation process fits into your overall regional crisis response system. • Please describe how you insure timeliness of KRS 202A evaluations (i.e. meeting the 3 hour requirement)

  8. Spending Plans & Financial Implementation Reports • Look at split between Adult and Child Planning and Actual Expenditures by payor • Compare All Adults and Adults with SMI • Compare All Children and Children with SED

  9. Determining Unmet Needs??? Propose that this might be a forum for sharing what information is used and how gathered for this purpose Open up to discussion of how Regions obtain all the information that they need to determine focus areas from a quality assurance perspective and a general service and support needs perspective
