  3. Global Aviation Safety Plan • First edition issued in 1997 • GASP used to guide and prioritize the technical work programme of the Organization • Updated regularly until 2005 • Revised GASP approved by the ANC on 12 June 2007 and accepted by Council on 19 July 2007 ARAST Bangkok, Thailand

Global Aviation Safety Roadmap • Inspired by the 7th ICAO ANC Industry meeting in May 2005 • Modeled after a similar effort in the ATM field (Air Navigation Roadmap and Global Air Navigation Plan) • Produced by the ISSG (Industry Safety Strategy Group made of Airbus, ACI, Boeing, CANSO, FSF, IATA and IFALPA) and ICAO ARAST Bangkok, Thailand

Regional Aviation Safety Teams • Created by their respective COSCAP-SEA, COSCAP-SA and COSCAP-NA Steering Committees • Established to play an active role in the global effort to reduce accidents. • Have conducted many meetings and developed numerous safety enhancements. • Implementation of safety enhancements is tracked by the CTA and reported to the Steering Committees ARAST Bangkok, Thailand

Regional Aviation Safety Teams • RAST terms of reference amended in 2008 / 2009 to provide a mandate to serve as the mechanism to evaluate and facilitate implementation of the GASP • The focus and priority for Team will be to introduce, support, and develop actions, which have the potential to effectively and economically reduce the regional aviation risk. ARAST Objectives • Review existing safety interventions which have already been developed through the efforts of well-established, multinational safety initiatives (CAST, ESSI) • Review the best practices and metrics defined in the GASP/Global Aviation Safety Roadmap (GASR), and • Review regional accidents and significant incident trends to determine issues which may warrant locally-developed interventions. ARAST Objectives • Identify areas of concern to flight safety that may be unique to the region or require emphasis within the region, and develop data and interventions to address those concerns; • Support implementation of data driven action plans developed using risk analysis by performance-based safety systems ARAST Bangkok, Thailand
