    7. Career Guidance Philosophy Provide students with knowledge and sound reasoning to make logical decisions based upon needs and opportunities with a realistic view of themselves and the world of work in their effort to find a satisfying career.

    9. Arkansas Career Planning To meet ADE standards, every student must have a four-year plan. To meet ACE standards for program approval, every student must have a four-year plan (recommended six-year), which is revisited each year for necessary adjustments. To meet the requirements of ACT 1949, every student services program must include career advisement and a career development process.

Curriculum Must be Aligned Curriculum must be aligned with frameworks Lessons must be aligned to an overall cohesive and coherent plan (Transition) Activities should be aligned to student interests and community needs (Relevancy) Career planning should be aligned to the district programs of study (Foundation)

    12. Course Description Career Orientation is a foundation course for all Career & Technical Education programs of study. It must be offered to all students at the seventh or eighth grade level for a minimum of one semester. Career Orientation is an exploratory hands-on activity based class in which students explore the world of work in relation to their interests, life and work values, aptitudes, personality and lifestyle through self-discovery. This class emphasizes self-evaluation, decision-making, college and career research, employability skills and career portfolio development Stress the difference between “hands-on” and other methods of teaching/learning.     13. Expect the Best! Winners are not born they are made If we don’t expect the best we will not get the best Students have to fail before they know the real feeling of success A Facilitator allows the student to feel like they are in charge of their learning.

    14. “Facilitate” Learning Allow the student to fail at what they don’t have the aptitude for and excel at what they are naturally good at. People are rewarded for success People gravitate toward reward People find a niche for their aptitude and develop a pathway of learning toward a career career development model
