  2. Mines And Quarries Summary Egyptians mined and quarried many various materials all around Egypt. Another thing is that the Egyptians used it for many uses.

  3. Info About Mining   With the Nile cutting through various rock formations, Egyptian quarries are often close to the river. Metal and precious stones on the other hand were found mostly in the desert, where living conditions were difficult and the security situation often precarious [6].     Work in the mines was therefore often seasonal. Harurre, treasurer of the god and master of the double cabinet arrived at Maghara in the summer, in his words not the season for going to this Mine-land.

  4. Info About Quarries The two main stones of the lower Nile valley are sandstone, from Sudan as far north as the Edfu/Gebelein region, and limestone, the classic Egyptian valley stone from the Theban area to Cairo. Limestone is the typical building stone in the Old, Middle and early New Kingdom (about 1550-1069 BC). limestone Sandstone became a more common construction material from the Eighteenth Dynasty on, with some southern upper Egyptian examples already in the Middle Kingdom (about 2025-1700 BC). sandstone Limestone and sandstone could be quarried in open quarries. Stone of good quality was often found only inside a mountain, and therefore huge galleries were cut. The opening of a new quarry was an important event, which was celebrated, sometimes with an eternal record in hieroglyphic inscription. The first step was to remove bad stone, dust sand and rubble.

  5. Picture Of Mine • Prehistoric Rock art in the desert depicting a Jewish menorah near a Roman mine , The valley of rock art exhibits 6000 year old rock art local in the ancient copper mines of the Arabia and along the desert roads leading to these mines.

  6. Picture Of Quarrie The major attraction here is the Temple of KomOmbo, built during the GrecoRoman period (332 BC AD 395). The temple is very unusual.
