  4. Family • Chief Powhatan was her father • They were Native Americans

  5. Reason for Fame • Pocahontas wanted to make peace with the settlers • Brought them food • Pocahontas and Captain Smith became friends • She was kidnapped when she was 18 and taken to Jamestown • They kept her for one year

  6. Adulthood • She married John Rolfe in 1614 in Jamestown. • They had a son named Thomas • Travelled to England in 1616 • She got sick and died in England in 1617 • She was only 21 years old.
