Program Purpose: Jump Start your future 9th Grade Summer Bridge Camp • Prepare your student for high school. • Introduce students to their future school and teachers. • Provide a character building experience. • Improve fundamental skills in Reading and Math. • Build life skills to support academic success. • Gain an appreciation for learning and introduction into college. • Instill values and resistance skills to negative peer behavior. • Motivate students to live healthy, violence & drug free lives. • Help students understand the importance of personal responsibility and teamwork. • Teach students how to face challenges and become leaders in their school and community. 2

Jump start your future 9th Grade Summer Bridge Camp • Arrive at Camp: • Report to Team Leader and check in • Early Morning Snack (Food is provided) • Goal Setting Session: • Discussions of Goals, Objectives and Plans for the day. • Morning Academic Sessions: • Math & Reading Skills Workshops • Mid-Morning Snack: • Health, Personal Hygiene and Wellness topics covered (Food is provided). • Late Morning Workshops and Guest Speakers: • Workshops are designed to be participatory and fun. We offer activities to enhance academics, build study skills, learn time management, improve test taking skills, incorporate life skills and promote “school time”. Graduation certificates, camp mementos & awards are given to each camper. • Special Activities: • Additional activities will be used for other unique and fun learning experiences, local College or University visits and team building programs. 4

  5. RHS Summer Bridge All Rising 9th Grade Students will attend on the dates listed below. Transportation will be provided. 1st Week: July 11-15, 2011 from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. 2nd Week: July 18-22, 2011 from 7:30 a.m. – 2:45 p.m.
