What is Assignment #4 ? • A 2500 word (approximately 10 pages double spaced) paper on your PST…The paper will adhere to standards of organization, content, style, and format. • It’s a review of key aspects of your PST based on 9 or more scholarly articles. • Like others – please submit electronically

  3. Suggested Structure in 5 Parts • Introduction • Guts of It, Part 1 • Guts of It, Part 2 • Guts of It, Part 3 • Wrap-Up (“Conclusion”) • (Literature)

  4. Introduction • May draw on your Assignment #1 • Includes • Brief statement of topic you’re reviewing • What is puzzling, troubling • Why this is important – • Ecologically, socially, economically, culturally, ethically, • note management implications/choices

  5. SuggestedGuts of It 1: Extent of Problem The scale of the problem; how bad are things? - Try to work in 3 papers that speak to the scale or scope of the problem – remember this is not repeating that it’s important.

  6. SuggestedGuts of It 2: Causes and Effects Here is where you will examine why the problem has come about - Try to work in 3 papers that may give different views on causes and impacts

  7. SuggestedGuts of It 3: Possible Solutions Whatever challenge it is, how do experts suggest we manage/deal/solve the matter? - Again look for 3 papers that may give different solutions or maybe that view one or two solutions in different ways.

  8. Wrap -up • Will depend a lot, of course, on what’s been reviewed. • Summarize very briefly and then • Come out with what you think is true and best.

  9. Suggested Structure in 5 Parts • Introduction (300 words) • Scale, Scope, Nature of Problem (5-700) • Causes (5-700) • What to do about it? (5-600) • Wrap-Up (“Conclusion”) (3-400)
