Postexposure Guidelines Following Sexual Contact with HBsAg-Infected Person *Test for hepatitis B status with HBsAg and anti-HBs; if either test is positive, no additional vaccine is needed † Hepatitis B immune globulin dose is 0.06 ml/kg administered intramuscularly; timing of HBIG administration will not affect vaccine efficacy ‡Schedule for hepatitis B vaccine is 0, 1, 6 mos. § If ongoing exposure to HBV infected person, check titers 1-2 mos. following 3rd dose of hepatitis B vaccine ||Consider testing for anti-HBs, 1-2 mos. post-vaccination
