  3. Masuria • Geographical region in nothern-eastern Poland. • Landscape of the region was shaped by the last iceage -about 14 000-15 000 years ago. • In the early Middle Ages most of the area covered with wild, primeval forest. • Thereareabout 2000 lakes.

Nature • Here has created a local variety called Masurian pine. • The most diverse is the habitatof birds: heron, cormorant, grebe, many species of ducks, swans and cranes, eagle, osprey, lesserspottedeagle. • Mammals: beavers, moose, deer, wolves, foxes, pinemartens, badgers • Reptiles: turtle, lizard, grasssnake, adder. • Amphibians: newts, frogs, toads , toads lowland • Invertebrates: swallowtail, Cerambyxcerdo • Thereisalso a lot of relicts – the species, whichhasn’tevolved : firmoss, woolly delicate, crowberry, bagnica peat, sedge
