  4. Graduation Applications • All seniors need to complete by November 30th, 2011 • Seniors will meet with their counselors and receive graduation applications, transcripts, and credit evaluations during October and November • Signatures required by parent and student

  5. ?Graduation Requirements? • 23.5 Credits • Community service hours, 15 per year • VIP paper-Junior year • Culminating Exhibition-Senior year • 13th year plan

All colleges and universities require a high schooltranscript, SAT Reasoning or ACT scores, and supplemental materials as indicated Community Colleges require a high school transcript and Compass/Asset placement test Many technical colleges require an admissions tests such as the Compass or Asset test and/or an interview College & Technical School Admission

  7. PSAT test date is Wednesday, Oct. 12th $14.00 fee to be paid in the Business Office, before/after school and at lunch Student gives receipt to Mr. Willie and will receive PSAT booklet beginning Sept. 23rd Why would you want to take the PSAT? For juniors and interested sophomores PSAT

  8. SAT/ACT • SAT- 3 hour test that measures verbal and math reasoning skills; with new writing section; typically taken by high school juniors and seniors • ACT- 2 hour 55 minute test that covers four skill areas: English, math, reading and science with optional writing section • For further questions and online practice information contact Mr. Willie or Ms. LaFortune

SAT • Critical Reading, Math, Writing • Reasoning • Penalty for wrong answers • Math grid-ins • Writing Essay: Mandatory • Writing Essay: 25 min • Perfect Score: 2400 • Pre-SAT: PSAT ACT • Science, Math Reading, English • Curriculum Based • No penalty for wrong answers • All multiple-choice • Writing Essay: 30 min. • Perfect Score: 36 • Career Interest Inventory • Pre-ACT: PLAN & EXPLORE

  11. Admissions is moving toward a more comprehensive review and holistic approach incorporating: Essay or personal statement Rigor of classes Grade trend SAT and/ACT scores Extracurricular activities Freshman Admissions

  12. Transcripts Requests • Request transcripts from Sandy Pollestad, Registrar or Debbie Gessaman, Special Services and Guidance Assistant • Give one day notice • May call (425) 335-1571 or request in person

  13. Financial Aid • FAFSA (the Free Application for Federal Student Aid); if you think you will need help paying for your college expenses you should apply. You can get your pin # early by going to: www.fafsa.ed.gov • Additional information including a FAFSA4caster: www.studentaid.ed.gov • Most colleges have a FAFSA due date between February 1st and February 15th • Financial Aid Night – Thursday, November 30th, 6:30 p.m. LSHS library

Scholarships • Scholarship postings will be made bi-monthly in the Career Center and on LSHS website • Each college has merit scholarships and will have their own scholarship applications • Thousands of scholarships are available-it just takes a little digging and perseverance to find them • Check withemployers, unions, financial institutions, and the additional resources available at LSHS

  15. NCAA Eligibility Center • Student-athletes must register on website • Turn in authorization form to Mr. Willie • Need 16 core courses (1 course=1 year) for Division I schools • Need 14 core courses for Division II schools • Register at www.ncaa.org
