  4. 1999 – 2003 University of Sussex • A year in Germany: Freiburg University

  5. Part Time and Holiday Work • Riki tiks Cocktail bar! • Teaching English as a Foreign Language • The Speech Centre

  6. 2003 – 2005 Employment! • The Speech Centre

  7. Training in Speech and Language Therapy • Rich experience, set of academic and work skills and ready to embark on vocational training. • Linguistics provided the perfect backdrop to further study in SLT • City University, Full Time PG Dip 2005-2007

  8. Part time business • Set up my own business • Helped finance 2 years Full Time Study

  9. 2007 - Full Time Speech and Language Therapist

  10. What are my roles? • A therapist • A teacher • A collaborative team member • A supportive colleague • A trainer • A staff governor

  11. What does it involve? • 1:1 assessment • Small group work • Class teaching • Supporting teachers in Maths, Drama, Literature • Joint planning • Facilitating a communication friendly environment • Makaton Signing and Software training

  12. What do I need? • Subject knowledge and expertise • Enthusiasm to work as part of a team • Observation skills • Ongoing reflection • Creativity
