  2. Lincoln created the Secret Service hours before his assassination. 10. -It wasn’t until 1901, after the assassinations of two other presidents, that the Secret Service was assigned to protect the Commander-in-Chief.

  3. Grave Robbers attempted to steal Lincoln’s corpse 9. -In 1876, Lincoln’s body was protected only by a single padlock. After this incident, Lincoln’s body was moved to an unmarked grave, encased in a steel cage, and buried under ten feet of concrete.

John Wilkes Booth’s brother saved Lincoln’s son’s life 8. -Edwin Booth caught Robert Todd Lincoln by the shirt collar when he fell off the train platform into the path of an incoming train. -On the day of Edwin Booth’s funeral (June 9, 1893) Ford’s Theatre collapsed, killing 22 people. Coincidence?
