  3. THE PROGRAM • IT IS A PUBLIC-PRIVATE-PARTNERSHIP WITH THE DEMOCRATIC GOVERNMENT OF SA • IT IS DIRECTED TO ALL GENERAL WORKERS • PROGRAM IS TOTALLY FREE TO THE WORKER POPULATION

WHY THE “WORKER INTERVENTION PROGRAM”? • The program is a way of supporting the SA government in the fight against HIV. • Workers require good healthcare in order to be productive and support own families. • The program aims to increase access to ARV’S to all workers, those who need them. • Workers who do not have Medical Aid can also get good doctor’s treatment for free. • Working skills & experience in the country can be kept longer with healthy employees.

  5. TSHEPANG TRUST • THE TRUST IS MANAGED BY SA DOCTORS WHO HAVE HIGH INTEREST IN HIV/AIDS. • TSHEPANG IS FUNDED BY DONOR AGENCIES BOTH LOCAL AND INTERNATIONAL. • THE PROGRAM HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR MORE THAN SEVEN YEARS.

  6. AN AGREEMENT IS REACHED BY BOTH PARTIES TO EXECUTE VCT DATES AND SITES ARE CHOSEN AND ARRANGED VCT IS CARRIED OUT REFERRALS ARE DONE WHERE NECESSARY MANAGEMENT REPORTING SIMPLIFIED PROCESS

  7. FREE SERVICE • FREE VOLUNTARY COUNSELLING AND TESTING • FREE CD4 & VIRAL LOAD MONITORING AND OTHER RELATED LABORATORY INVESTIGATIONS • FREE DEDICATED DOCTORS • FREE ARV’S

WHAT IS VCT? • VCT STANDS FOR “VOLUNTARY COUNSELLING AND CONFIDENTIAL TESTING” • A SMALL AMOUNT OF WHOLE BLOOD IS TAKEN FROM YOUR FINGER AND TESTED USING A FAST METHOD THAT TELLS YOUR STATUS IN UNDER TEN MINUTES. • THIS FAST METHOD IS APPROVED BY THE SOUTH AFRICAN DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AS WELL AS THE WORLD HEALTH ORGANISATION. • IT’S A VERY ACCURATE METHOD.
