  2. Prom Promise MCHS High School Students are encouraged to sign the Prom Promise April 24-27 in the cafeteria lobby.

  3. Prom Promises This year at Madison County High School, we are giving Juniors and Seniors the opportunity to pledge and sign the Prom Promise to make good and healthy decisions Prom night.

  4. Promises to Make.. • Above the influence • Safe driving • Think before you “do”.

  5. Above the Influence After the long night of Prom instead of making bad decisions, drive home safe or grab something to eat with friends. Either way stay above the influence Prom Night. “Love saves lives, drugs take lives.”

  6. “Drug free is the way to be.” • 74% of teens reported feeling pressured to consume alcohol or do drugs around/after Prom activities • 44% reported pressure to drive after consuming alcohol or using drugs • About 23% of drivers ages 15 to 20 who died in car crashes had a blood alcohol counts of 0.08 or higher.

  7. Safe Driving Please be careful driving to and from Prom on May 5th Be alert and focused, while on the road.

  8. Texting & Driving • Don’t be tempted: turn off your cell phone • If you HAVE to call or text while driving, pull off the road safely. • Nearly 6,000 people died because of distractions such as texting in 2008 • Nearly 80% of collisions happen because of distracted driving.

  9. “Stay alive, don’t drink and drive.” • Drunk driving is the number one killing of teens and young adults. • 5,202 teens are injured in a car crash going to and from Prom • 48 teens die each year going to and from Prom.

  10. Drinking & Driving Video Click it! Then return to the slide show after the video.

  11. “Hugs not Drugs.” • Friends should never pressure you into doing anything you don’t want to do. • A REAL friend would not make their friends do anything that would jeopardize their health or values. • True friends love you how you are and don’t want you to change.

  12. Think before you “do”. Make sure your significant other knows your values and does not try to pressure you sexually. Just because it’s a big night doesn’t mean you should go out with a bang.

  13. Will you make the promise?

  14. The video should start automatically. If you have any trouble, please refer to instructions on the advisement lesson plan.

  15. Sign the Prom Promise located in the cafeteria lobby April 24-27 Sign it like you mean it. Then cross your heart and keep it…
