  1. DCS WG report:from dreams to reality FV

  2. After Technical Run considerations VF • Main difficulties identified during TR • Unstable and unreliable middleware (OPC servers) • Worsening of the situation with increasing of complexity of the system and number of channels • Basic control of whole system is better than sophisticated control of a part • Our resources are limited and job should be better planned

  5. Comparison of TR and final set-up in number of units/channels VF

  6. Our constraint on man-power VF • Currently the central DCS team consist of 5 persons • Jonas Arroyo Garcia (100%) – our main developer • Roman Fedoseev (100%) – developper started to work with us in 2011 • Piotr Golonka (10%) – EN/ICE project leader • Riccardo Fantechi (10%) • ValeriFalaleev (50%) • Contract with Jonas will finish at the end of July. • Situation with Roman is unclear. • To ensure delivery of the system we should work under assumption of the worst case scenario: 10-12 man-months available and termination of main DCS tasks already in 2013.

  7. DCS strategy in 2013 VF • Concentrate on basic control of whole detector without closing possibility of future upgrade (horizontal base) • Test and integration of all available middleware • Integration of all available hardware (in ideal case all experiment hardware should be integrated before August 2013) • Migration to final network and DB set-up • Simplified User Interface and functions • Implement advanced control in case of availability of extra manpower

  8. First steps in 2013 VF • Movement of DCS into new environment: • Migration to new version of SLC6, WinCC OA 3.11 and FW 5.1.0 on one of our server • Migration of KTAG and LAV applications in new environment • The rest of TR system will be moved in February • Successful test of CEDAR NINO control with an ELMB (see CEDAR WG materials) • LAV4-8 HV system arrangement in PC farm area • First LKr CAEN FE crate (again in PC farm)
