THE IC MISSION STATEMENT The mission of International College is to educate young men and women to be capable of initiative and critical thinking, and who will serve as role models in a global society. The curriculum aims for excellence at all levels and embraces the education of the whole person. Graduates of I.C. will have developed self-discipline, problem-solving abilities, social responsibility, self-confidence, and awareness of, and respect for, the interdependence of nations in all their diversity.

UNIVERSITY ACCEPTANCE • STUDNETS WHO GRADUATE FROM 7th CPP are accepted at any Local or foreign university at the FRESHMAN LEVEL (SCIENCES OR ARTS) • At AUB: UPON COMPLETION OF THE FRESHMAN CLASS, THEY WILL BE ACCEPTED TO THE SOPHOMORE CLASS TO ANY OF THE FOLLOWING MAJORS: From Freshman Arts From Freshman Sciences FAS OSB FM FAFS FHS FEA FAS (Arts majors only) OSB FM FAFS FHS FEA – (graphic Design only)

Course Coefficients and Graduation RequirementsA General end of year average of 70 is required for Graduation.Graduating class students who a. fail to meet the minimum requirements in one or more courses, or b. whose conduct are not deemed worthy, or c. who do not fulfill the social service requirements by the set date will not be allowed to attend Commencement Exercises

  6. *Students will continue with art or music chosen in grade 11 CPP. Students are eligible to graduate if they: 1. Obtain a general average of 70 and above 2. Meet the above minimum requirements 3. Fulfill a social service requirement of 20 hours

  7. SUPPORT SERVICES : • Psychological Support: The class advisor and school psychologist are available to guarantee the necessary support. If the student suffers from any specific adjustment difficulty, the school psychologist is available for support and regular follow up. She will be in constant communication with the class advisor* and parents. *CLASS ADVISOR : Mrs. Josette Eid

  8. b) Academic Support: If your child faces academic difficulties in one or more subjects, reinforcement classes will be offered. His/her advisor or teacher will invite you to a conference to communicate the difficulties and explore possible solutionsC) Medical Support: During the year, if any medical condition arises, the administration, school physician and nurse will be in constant communication with you . If your child suffers from any prolonged medical condition, a medical report is required. All confidential information is kept with the administration. SUPPORT SERVICES (cont.)

  9. How Does IC Prepare its students for University Studies A. Career Guidance • Mrs. Mona Shbaklo, Dean of Students, is responsible for orienting students towards local universities (AUB, LAU, USJ….). Through out the year, guest speakers are invited from the various majors at these universities to give an orientation session about the majors concerned. • Mrs. Randa Soubeih, ForeignColleges’ Counselor, is responsible for orienting students towards foreign English speaking universities. She arranges for meetings with speakers from these universities. These orientation sessions are announced on our IC website.

  11. IMPORTANT DATES 2013 – 2014 Academic year A. EXAMS & GRADE REPORTING November 20 : First progress report November 27 : Parent–Teacher meeting for students with academic problems December 16-20: Semester I examinations (Mid-Year exams) January 16: Semester 1 report *April 11 : Second progress report *May 19-23 : Final examinations *June : Commencement and Annual Report Sheets * Tentative dates Semester I September 2013– December 2013 Ends with the Mid Year cumulative exams Semester II January 2014 – May 2014 Ends with the Final Exam cumulative exams

  12. B. COLLEGE RELATED and SOCIAL SERVICE Dates • Colleges Related Deadlines: a. Nov. 30: submission of AUB applications for early admission b. Dec. 7: last chance for SAT exam taking for AUB c. Dec. 20: submission of AUB applications for regular admission d. Dec. 20: early deadline for submission of LAU applications e. June 7: last chance for SAT exam taking for LAU f. May 30: late deadline for submission of LAU applications 2. Social Service : Completion of work on May 4, 2013

Admission to AUB • SAT I + school transcript of record and rank for grades 10 & 11 • Composite Score (CS) = 50% SAT I + 50% school record of grades 10 and 11 CS= (Critical reading + mathematical reasoning) + Grade 10 + grade 11 • Two recommendation letters from teachers and one from counselor • Personal letter showing extracurricular activities

For equivalency of the Freshman year with the Lebanese Baccalaureate, the Lebanese government requires students to sit for SAT II in 3 subjects • For Freshman arts students should obtain a score of 2750 for both SAT I and SAT II • For Freshman science the student should obtain a score of 2600 for both SAT I and SAT II
