  1. Sapphire mirror suspended by sapphire fibers Key component of KAGRA (a)Sapphire fiber with nail head : Quality check is in progress (support by ELiTES) (b)Drilled prototype sapphire bulk will be delivered soon (Shinkosha). (c)Frame for suspension : Large parts were delivered. 1

  2. KAGRA Baffle system

  3. Example of a large baffle #3 Narrow-angle baffle Material: A5052 400 mm radius Surface: electro-chemical buffed (ECB) ECB: low scattering Solblack: Vacuum Compatibility (10-7 Pa), Cryogenic compatibility (<8K), Low reflectivity (~2%@1064nm), Applicable for a large work LSC meeting xxx Blackened surface: Solblack

  4. Vacuum System Vacuum chamber on the machining bed Surface of the vacuum components after ECB Vacuum chamber on the surface plate

  5. KAGRA Laser system Schematic view of the laser system NPRO-> Fiber amplifiers-> Solid state amplifiers • Requirements for the laser • Power > 180 W • Single frequency • Linear polarization • Single transverse mode • Wide-band control for stabilization systems • About 1MHz for frequency control • About 100kHz for intensity control Current status Coherent addition of two laser outputs Result of the coherent addition Bright port 78W Dark port 4W Fiber amplifiers 40W x2 (Nufern) 41W×2 =>78W Efficiency 95%

  6. Data analysis • Data Analysis Subsystem • (Leader: H.Tagoshi, sub-leaders: Y.Itoh, H.Takahashi) • Current members: 16 people • + Korean subgroup (Leader: Hyung Won Lee, 3 people) • Current activities: • Writing the data analysis white paper • Development of data analysis package for KAGRA • We have determined the name of data analysis library for KAGRA. • "KAGALI": KAGRA Algorithmic Library 篝 KAGALI is Japanese word and it means frame for fire using search and discovery.

  8. Summary • KAGRA is a unique GW interferometer with the underground site and the cryogenics technology. • The KAGRA construction is in progress. • Initial operation (iKAGRA) will start in late 2015. • Cryogenic system for the (bKAGRA) is also in progress. • Full cryogenic operation will starts in 2017. • Observation in the global network since 2018 • KAGRA has close collaborations with LIGO/LSC and EGO/Virgo.

  9. GWADW 2014 in Japan Date: 2014.5.26-5.30 (reception on 5.25) Location: Takayama (~3hrs from Nagoya) KAGRA site tour will be scheduled. Conference will be held in the Hida Hotel Plaza. KAGRA Tokyo Nagoya Takayama Shirakawago (world heritage)
