  1. Implant supported Dental Bridges

  2. Missing one or more teeth in a row? An Implant supported Dental Bridge may often be the best solution for restoring this gap. • An Implant supported Dental Bridge quite literally does ‘Bridge thegap’ created by one or more missing teeth. It not only restores the aesthetic appearance but also the natural form and function of the teeth. • Implant supported bridge works exactly like the conventional dental bridge, but does not require the support of the natural teeth. Instead an implant supported bridge rests atop two Dental Implants, which are embedded in the jaw.

  3. An Implant supported bridge consists of three parts; • Dental Implant (Fixture):A titanium post which is surgically placed into the jawbone that fuses with your natural bone and replaces the root of your tooth. • Abutment:A small, cylinder connector that screws into the implant and holds the artificial tooth or teeth in place. • Crown (Prosthesis):A series of natural-looking tooth replacements made of porcelain or ceramic that are attached to the implant abutments.

  6. Implant Supported Bridge Procedure The treatment plan for the implant supported bridge is carried out in four steps and take somewhere around five months to an year, depending on the condition of the jaws and location of the implant placement Initial appointment: The condition of the jaw bone determines whether a bone graft or a sinus lift is required before placing of the implants. This is required for the implant vitality. An initial comprehensive examination is carried out which includes looking into the dental and the medical history, impressions are taken and scans are done to check for the condition of the jaws.

  7. Placement of implants: Titanium implant screws are surgically inserted into the jawbone. Healing caps will be placed over the dental implants to allow the soft tissue (gum) to heal around the area. The area is allowed to heal for approximately four to six months. During this healing time the implants are allowed time to Osseo integrate (attach to the natural bone).

  8. Placement of healing abutments and temporary teeth: Healing abutments now replace the earlier placed healing caps. These Healing Abutments allow the gum to form ‘collars’ around the base of the crown (teeth) area. Temporary  teeth are provided over the healing abutment for the rest of the healing period. The temporary teeth are shade matched to the existing teeth to give it a more natural look.

  9. Impressions: At your impression appointment, the healing abutments and temporary teeth will be briefly removed, and an impression coping will be placed on the implants. Impressions of the dental implants and surrounding teeth will be taken. These impressions will be sent to a dental laboratory to manufacture your final abutments and ceramic dental bridge. The healing abutments and temporary teeth will be replaced at the end of the appointment.

  11. Placement of final bridge restoration: Once the final abutments and ceramic dental bridge have been received from the dental lab, cementation or fixing of the bridge is done. The healing abutments and temporary teeth are removed, and the final abutments are attached. The abutments and the final bridge is checked for the perfect fit and comfort. Once confirmed, the permanent ceramic bridge will be cemented onto the abutments.
