  1. 3 Key Dental Health Care Tips for Smokers

  2. Dental Health Care .

  3. Smoking is Bad for your Oral Health • Smoking is bad enough for your heart and lungs, but not only that, it can also cause serious problems to your oral health. • According to studies, smokers are four times more likely of developing gum diseases than non-smokers. And the damage can worsen if you don't take action today.

  4. Take Care of Your Oral Health • You probably have thought about quitting. That's the single most effective solution actually. • Thing is, it's easier said than done. So while you're working to withdraw from smoking, here are few tips how you can take care of your oral health.

  5. See A Dentist • Stop making excuses and just go set an appointment with a dentist. A dentist will be able to advise you on the condition of your mouth. • You can be guided properly on a hygiene plan that you can follow. Also, by meeting with your dentist frequently, you can have your teeth professionally cleaned. • You know that smokers suffer from stained teeth, plaque buildup, and even persistent bad breath. • And your dentist will be able to help you address these issues one by one as long as you also commit yourself to the regular checkup.

  6. Change Your Toothbrush • You need the right toothbrush to keep your teeth clean. Since you are often exposed to tar and nicotine, you need a stiff toothbrush that will help you get rid of these two. • A toothbrush with stiff and strong bristles and is able to reach problem areas in the back of your gums would work well for you. It should be stiff enough to remove the star, but of course not too stiff as to hurt your gums. • If you are always on the go, also bring with you a mouthwash you can use in case brushing isn't possible at the moment. There are mouthwash brands made specifically for smokers. Ask your dentist which one they recommend.

  7. Watch What You Eat • Avoid food that will only case further staining of your teeth such as coffee and soda. • Also, skip acidic food for the meantime as these goodies can only contribute to the formation of cavities. • But if you really must, be sure to always drink water afterward.

  8. Practice these Habits • Again, visit your dentist regularly, brush your teeth frequently using the right kind of toothbrush, always keep with you a mouthwash, and finally, keep track of your diet. • When you take these habits to your heart, not only will you see yourself reduce those smoking tendencies and habits, you also will get to wear a more confident, more beautiful smile.
