  1. Brazil By: Rayni Haugen and Mackenzie Joos. 

  2. Brazilian Animals. • Manatee- can be found in the freshwaters of the Amazon river Basin throughout Brazil, Columbia, Peru, and Ecuador. • Howler monkey- these monkeys have the loudest sound of any land animal. It can be heard from 3 kilometers. The bones in its throat act like an amplifier. • Fin whale- this whale is found in oceans all over the world; from the tropics, to the polar areas.

  3. Photos. ← Brazils tropical rain forest. Filled with thousands of different animals and plants. ↑ Brazilian plains. Also called “Pampas” which means low lands. ← Brazil’s beaches are known to be some of the most beautiful in the world.

  4. Authors. • Paulo Coehlo’s novel Eleven Minutes was a worlds best seller. • Machado de Assis is the best Brazilian litature author in the world. • Ana Maria Machado has written over 10 children's books in Brazil.

  5. Government. • Federative Republic. • Consists of the Executive Branch, Chief of State, President, VP, head of government, and the cabinet. • Presidents serve four year terms. • 81 seats in the federal senate.

  7. Culture. • Latin American Culture- this culture is very diverse from any other. It’s main influence is Portuguese. Carnaval is held forty days before Easter and is marking the start of lent.

  8. Tourist Attractions. • Amazonia National Park- covers 7 of brazils 27 states. Contains 40% of Brazils landmass. • Pantanal- considered one of the worlds best wildlife reserve. Also known for it’s incredible fishing. • Sao Paulo- most populated in brazil. Contains the largest skyscrapers in the country.

  9. History. • The Portuguese were the first European settlers to arrive in the area. • There are less than 200,000 indigenous people in Brazil. • Coffee was the number one seller for Brazil in the 19th century.

  10. Geography of Brazil. • Smaller in land mass then the United States, only 8514876.599 sq. kilometers. • Composed of flat low-land, some hills, mountains, plains and narrow coastal belts in the north. • The rainforests in the Amazon Basin contains 50% of the worlds total rainforests.

  11. Flag. The green color represents the Brazilian fields. The yellow represents gold. The blue represents the sky of the Rio De Janeiro night sky on November 15, 1889. Each star stands for a different Brazilian state.
