  2. Safety Review • Half the workers injured on the job are new employees.

  3. Safety Review • People who work in shops need to protect three things: • vision/eyes • hearing/ears • head • hands

  4. Safety Review • Always wear your safety glasseswhenever you’re in the shop. Even if you aren’t doing anything, other people are.

  5. Safety Review • NEVER put/placetools in your pockets.

  6. Safety Review • DON’T distract people who are working.

  7. Safety Review • ALWAYS roll loose sleeves to your elbows and tie back/put uplong hair.

  8. Safety Review • ALWAYS cut away from yourself, when using chisels and other edged tools.

  9. Safety Review • Carry sharp tools and pointed tools closeto your body with the points down.

  10. Safety Review • The following fire extinguishers fight which types of fires. • Class A:ordinary combustibles such as wood and paper. • Class B:flammable liquids like grease, gasoline and oil. • Class C:electrically energized fires. • Class D:flammable metals.

  11. Safety Review • Sawdust is slippery/flammableand should be cleaned up immediately.

  12. Safety Review • . After using a machine, ALWAYS stay with it until it comes to a complete stop.

  13. Safety Review • ALWAYS wear hearing protection when working with power tools or other noisy machinery

  14. Safety Review • NEVER use a machine without its safety guard in place.

  15. Safety Review • ALWAYS have the instructor’s permission before operating any machinery.

  16. Safety Review • Before using a machine, make sure all the movable parts are properly secured.

  17. Safety Review • NEVER work with power tools or machines when you’re tired or in a bad mood.

  18. Safety Review • Cut wood has splinters and sharp edges which can cause cuts and punctures.

  19. Safety Review • A metal edge can be just as sharp as the tools that cut it.

  20. Safety Review • Store tools and materials flat/horizontal, with the points and the heavy ends down.
