What is NCSOSE? • An enterprise center for Old Dominion University housed in the Batten College of Engineering and Technology • Staffed by Research Scientists, Faculty, and Graduate Students • Located in approx 7,000 sq. ft. in Innovation Research Park I since Summer 2007 Old Dominion University Innovation Research Park NCSOSE MissionTo develop, disseminate, and put into practice methodologies and technologies grounded in systems theory and focused on decision making for multidisciplinary problems.

NCSOSE Systems Research • Training is focused upon customer situations and is customized • Practiceis focused on the outcomes when scholarly work is applied in the real world • Education is based upon real-world practice and scholarly discourse Training NCSOSE Research Education Practice NCSOSE systems research is the integration of education, practice, and training

  4. The NCSOSE Problem (need) • Knowledge repository • Contains learning topic data (i.e., lectures, references, topic owners, etc.) • Serves as a systems learning taxonomy • Vehicle for structuring custom courses • Configuration manager for knowledge

  5. Requirements Robust design Microsoft software compatible Hosting options (web, Sharepoint, etc…) Multiple users Remote access Large file storage requirement (.pdf, .ppt., .doc)
