  3. Definition of OCD • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is an anxiety disorder characterized by thoughts that produce uneasiness, apprehension, fear, or worry; by repetitive behaviors aimed at reducing the associated anxiety; or by a combination of such obsessions and compulsions.

  4. Coping with OCD (1) Here are some ways to talk • Get treatment for your symptoms • Talk with your parents • Try to reduce anxiety • Talk with your teachers

  5. Coping with OCD (2) Here are some tips for OCD: • Try to ignore jokes about OCD • Explain to your friends that you have OCD • Tell your friends about your past OCD • Try to keep calm about others opinions

  6. The effects of OCD on Academic Performance (1) • May have a hard time concentrating • Unable to learn the same as others • Feel compelled to respond to urges • May not hear teacher

  11. Signs of OCD (2) • Feel frustrated when stopped by someone • Work is incomplete • Sometimes, don’t want to go to school • Can’t change a routine • Feel need to hide OCD

  13. The effects of OCD in Everyday Life (2) Here are some tips that can help with OCD • Face your fears with therapy • Acknowledge that compulsive rituals interfere with your life • Make a list • Explore your anxieties
