  1. Corporate Interface Server George Palios

  2. Contents Outlines the activities undertaken to enhance the quality of service of the Corporate interfacing after a number of independent issues had caused service interruptions across a range of systems. My role was to perform Root Cause Analysis and propose a solution. The results identified that it was due to the continual on-going evolution of the technical environment together with the un-coordinated evolution of software which was located on disparate systems. My solution was to build a Corporate Interface server and migrate all Interface software to this location, with appropriate DR&BCM considerations and an entirely separate test environment. This Project was managed simultaneously with the Corporate Interface Architecture Project.

  3. Aims of Project Review existing Hardware Architecture Provide and recommend options Provide Financial costing Design new Hardware Architecture Create separate test environment Incorporate Disaster Recovery & BCM

  4. Existing Technical Environment

  5. Provide and recommend options Option 1 Was to purchase new hardware together with a phased migration of interface Software - strongly recommended. Option 2 Leave the technical environment as is and invest in more Staff to manage the interruptions. Option 1 was agreed and a capital bid for funding was raised.

  6. Financial Costing

  7. New Hardware Architecture

  8. Separate Test Environment

  9. Disaster Recovery / Business Continuity The new hardware exclusively bought for Corporate Interface software was now in a position to be collectively secured each day. All documentation reflected exact scheduled timings of runs in order to provide clear restore points for systems re-synchronization in the event of any recovery actions. A recovery document was created and the knowledge base refined and improved to as Incidents occur.
