Critical success factors for multisectoral collaboration

  • Stewardship – leadership and advocacy for PHC from WHO, public health officials

  • Governance – commitment of executives, ministers;

  • Financing – resource allocation, mobilization for health sector investment and support services

  • Skilled human resources – dedicated and motivated healthcare workers


Critical success factors for multisectoral collaboration

  • Technically effective interventions – timely and continuing technical support and guidance from WHO and public health officials

  • Empowerment of other sectors – capacity building of focal points from other sectors

  • Community action – community support and volunteerism

  • Education – a literate population


Recent Changes and Developments in Health Sector

  • Government Changes in 2008 – Policy changes and new Decentralization Act

  • Less focus on PHC in island and Atolls

  • Now going back to PHC model of past

  • In terms of Reproductive Health : more focus on accessibility

  • Health insurance for all (government pay the premium for all) ID cards are produced to get services


Recent Changes and Developments in Health Sector

  • Our Ministry was established on May 2012

  • In disaster situations, we have a mandate to facilitate psycho-social support to victims

  • National Disaster Management Center, MNDF and MoH is the main relief work agency
