  8. Apply after Fall semester • Grade Point Average • Counts 70% of the admissions evaluation • Consider GPA in prerequisite courses • Interview • Invited for interview if meet minimum overall GPA • Counts 30% of admissions evaluation Pre-nursing ADMISSION

GPA is most important criteria • Overall GPA qualifies for admission, but prerequisite course GPA is used to rank applicants • Average GPA is 3.6 • Do accept applicants with lower GPA’s • Interview important • Must complete pre-requisite courses by enrollment date • Must earn a C or better in all pre-requisites • Must maintain at least a 3.0 grade point average, even after admission HOW TO BE COMPETITIVE

  10. Apply between December 1 and January 15 • If meet minimum GPA criteria, invited for interview • Interviews held in late February/early March • 2 possible admission dates: Fall 2013 Preference given to applicants who will have completed prerequisites by end of Spring 2013 Spring 2014 TIMELINE

  11. C or better in all nursing and required non-nursing courses • D, F, or W  Repeat course • May repeat a class only once • May repeat only 1 nursing course • Dismissal from program if: • Fail course more than once • Fail more than one nursing courses • 3.0 or higher GPA • Must have 3.0 to progress to sophomore nursing courses • Below 3.0  Academic probation for 1 semester • If still below 3.0 – Dismissal from program • See Advisor (Julie Turner) if you are having difficulty!!!!! • Carruth Center ACADEMIC STANDARDS AND PROGRESSION

  15. Log into your MIX account using your master ID.

  16. Once logged into MIX, click on the “STAR” tab in the top left hand corner.

  17. View what requirements for your GEC’s and major are met or need to be met. Also view your cumulative GPA, major GPA, and pre-requisite GPA.

  18. View what courses you still need to complete based on your program.

  19. The Class History link will display a student’s courses by term. This of course is not an official transcript and cannot be printed.

  20. See how your courses may apply to another major that you’re considering.

  21. Utilize the “Planner” feature to put in desired courses and a variety of possible schedules will be populated.

  22. Use the GPA calculator to determine what GPA is needed for graduation honors, scholarships, etc.

  23. Next Steps.. • Make sure that you’re enrolled in the correct fall courses and prepared for spring registration • Focus on maintaining a GPA as high as possible (very important!) • Be your own advocate – Ask Questions!!!
