  2. A note from me… I hope all of our sweet mothers enjoyed their Mother’s Day this past weekend. Thank you for the job you do each day to help your child. You are the most influential teacher they will ever have. As Abraham Lincoln said of his own mother, “All that I am or ever hope to be, I owe to my angel mother.” Thank you! Please know that you are loved and appreciated. Tomorrow afternoon is our annual “Volunteer Reception” for all of our parents who have been so dedicated and diligent to help us throughout the year. A big thanks go to Ms. Cangialosi, Mrs. McKinley, Mrs. Petersen, Mrs. O’Brien, Ms. Silviera., and Mrs. Caruss. They have been so faithful each week, and their help has been so appreciated. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all you have done to help us grow this year!  We are on the downhill slide of the year, and it seems to be running away from us at lightning speed! For the next 8 days , we will be busy completing final reports, projects, and testing, as well as having some fun activities both school wide and within our own class. Attendance is so important ----thanks for making sure your child is at school each day. All of our textbooks were being inventoried today after school, so our regular Monday night reading story assignment will be tomorrow night instead. All library books are due in the library by this Friday, 5/18. Please help your child locate their books and turn them in. Students are responsible for the cost of the book if it is not returned. The mystery word/s this week is library books. I was nothing short of appalled today when better than half the class raised their hands and said they did not know their home address and/or home (or parent cell) phone number! Please help your child learn this essential information. In today’s world of “stranger danger”, a home address or parent’s name and phone number could be the critical piece in ensuring your child’s safety. The last week of school I reserve for celebrating our summer birthdays. Students with a summer birthday are invited to bring in birthday treats for the class, if they so desire. This year, over 1/3 of our class have summer birthdays, so I am opening it up for the next two weeks. We don’t need to OD on sugar on any one day.  There are 27 students in our class, in the event your child will be choosing to celebrate with us. This is totally optional, but I want to make sure parents know that it is an option. There is no need to make prior arrangements. You may send the treat in with your child or drop it in the office, and we will fit it in sometime after lunch. “Great achievements begin with small opportunities.” ~~~Anonymous
