  1. Robert H. Goddard By Randal Bart

  2. The Father of Modern Rocketry • Robert H. Goddard first obtained public notice in 1907 in a cloud of smoke from a powder rocket fired in the basement of the physics building in Worcester Polytechnic Institute. School officials took an immediate interest in the work of student Goddard. They, to their credit, did not expel him. He thus began his lifetime of dedicated work.

  3. Up, Up, and Away • In 1926 he succeeded in building and launching the world's first liquid-fuel rocket, which soared briefly above a field near his home. Beginning in 1940, after moving to Roswell, New Mexico, Goddard built a series of larger liquid-fuel rockets that flew as high as 90 m (300 ft).

  4. Robert Goddards Rockets Helped Us Obtain a New View of the Earth. • This Picture was taken in Early December 1972 from Apollo 17. The Apollo program would never have been possible without Goddard Rocket Technology.
