  3. VU - Recollections of a student

  4. Recording “Documenting the practicum and recording information could’ve been better if I approached it differently. Recording the information “as you go” would’ve been a better approach. (I was making notes along the way but they were all over the place- some of them I lost etc)- maybe that’s just my lack of organisation…. Maybe recording things in a diary if you’re not actually at work would be the way to go.”

  5. Being observed “Having people watch me was a lot more difficult for a number of reasons. I really didn’t feel comfortable asking busy colleagues to take out a few hours of their time to observe me. I really felt like quite an inconvenience in doing so. I also felt quite uncomfortable being watched and I think that perhaps it ‘put me off’ a bit and found it to be quite awkward. The feedback though is quite useful. Is there a way of arranging for teachers to get some time release to participate in such programs??”

  6. Observing others “I had no problem with going to observe others’ classes- teachers were all very happy for me to do that and I really got a lot out of that part! I enjoyed watching the different styles and approaches and it assisted me in reflecting on my own. I thought it was great! Think it needs to be emphasised that getting onto it early on in the program really is the way to do it so it’s not all left to the end- maybe going to see classes early, mid way and end of semester??”
