  10. Hotel Beacon • The staff at the Hotel are very friendly and helpful, in the lobby there are normally 2 people at reception, a concierge and doorman which are all available to assist with any queries. • Around the Hotel is a great neighbourhood bustling with lots to offer and pretty much all you need. Amsterdam Avenue which is one street immediately to the east has a lot to offer.

  11. Transport • Subway - station at 72nd Street is 250m along Broadway with access to trains direct to Times Square and also runs both uptown and downtown and is the red 1, 2 and 3 lines. One trip is $3.25 or you buy a day pass $10 or 7-day pass $32 • Taxi – just tell them 2130 Broadway between west 74th and west 75th streets. Times Square to Hotel is about $10. • Uber – plenty of those available too! The app works in NY if you have it on your phone already.

  12. Around the Hotel Coffee • Viand Café is directly under the Hotel • Starbucks is 50m from Hotel on adjacent corner Food • The Hotel rooms have a kitchenette (unique for NY) with sink, fridge, coffee maker (takes pods they supply a few every day), cook top and microwave, so if you don’t want to eat out all the time or want to top up on snacks it’s very easy. A basic amount of bowls, plates, knifes forks are supplied as well as pots and frying pan for heating up. • Fresh and Supermarket – immediately across the street are two spots, Fairway and Citarella. Fairway offers all the basics with a massive selection of convenience food (small packages very New York) salads, soups etc. Lots of good quality fresh food. Fairway also has a large organic section upstairs and health food area. • Citarella offers a little higher quality and has salads and pre-prepared meals and snacks made on site packaged under their own brand. Beacon Wine and Spirits is located adjacent to the hotel

  13. Around the Hotel Restaurants and Cafés for Food Nearby(i.e. immediate walking distance) • Serafina on Broadway traditional American Italian mid-priced, I had the pasta there which was good. Also does Salmon, steaks, pasta • Red Farm (next door to Serafina on Broadway) – Delicious! Delicious! Delicious! A bit more upmarket and offering Asian Fusion, it was full so need to book unless in small group but worth it. • Viand Café below hotel. Massive menu and serves, good staple offering everything from breakfast brunch etc • Arte – Italian - 5 min walk from Hotel on 73rd Street. I had the lunch time special 3-courses for $15, soup, pasta and desert. Nice setting and staff with a bit more elbow room so a bit quieter. Yummy food

  14. Runs • Central Park – Central Park Avenue is just two blocks away with an access into the park on the corner of Central Park Avenue and 72nd Street (just near Strawberry Fields). • Hudson River – a linear track/park runs along the Hudson River which is 2 blocks from the Hotel in the opposite direction of Central Park.

  15. Shopping Within walking distance: • Lulu Lemon • North Face • Gap • Bloomingdales Also nearby are: • Hair, nails and beauty products • Pharmacy and convenience • Bakery and café’s • Delicatessen's • Fresh salad bar • Sandwich place
