  2. Why Tin Can Bay P -10 State School in 2015? Our School’s Vision is Aspiring for Excellence In Academic Pursuits Personal Growth and Development Sporting Endeavours Community Involvement  This is achieved by setting high standards and expecting students to strive to be the best they can be, in all facets of their lives.

Academic Excellence • Each student is encouraged to achieve their potential on their life long journey of education and to develop a sense of pride in themselves, Tin Can Bay P – 10 State School and their community. • Every student has access to technology (laptops) in every lesson of every day. • We offer a diverse range of curriculum offerings.

  4. Student Support At Tin Can Bay P – 10 State School we offer a very wide range of student support services. These include: • A Guidance Officer • Learning Support Staff • Special Education Teachers • A School Chaplain • A School-Based Youth Health Nurse – who provides health-related information and advice to students. • Peer Skills Program – Year 10 students are trained as mentors to younger students in the school. • Youth InSearch Camp Program • Loaded Lunch Boxes • Breakfast Club • Care Teachers • Life Skills Lessons • Friday Afternoon Sport • Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden  These specialists and support programs work in partnership with parents, classroom teachers, teacher aides and specialist agencies to ensure that we provide students with a diverse and responsive supportive environment.

Our Curriculum • The core of our curriculum contains the National Curriculum, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital Technology. • Students will study English, Maths, Science, History, Geography, German and HPE as Core Subject • Students will also have the opportunity to engage in the following elective subjects: Drama Visual Art Marine Studies Home Economics ICT (Information & Communication Technology) ITD (Industrial Technology & Design) • We offer opportunities for Core, Extension and Foundation classes.

  8. Our Staff • Are experienced – secondary staff at Tin Can Bay P – 10 State School are qualified to teach Senior subjects in their chosen field. This ensures that our students are provided with expertise in their preferred career pathway and are fully prepared for their Senior phase of learning. • Keep abreast of the latest initiatives – ASOT = the Art and Science of Teaching. • Are supportive of all students. All staff know all of the students in secondary. This fosters a caring and supportive relationship between teachers, students and parents.
