  2. The vision • The EBSN Academy aims at promoting European excellence in the field of initial and continuous professional training for teachers of basic skills to adults.

  3. The opportunity: Last call for proposals in the LLLP: Grundtvig Workshops for learners > Workshops for literacyteachers

Objectives • to give present and future teachers and staff the opportunity to gain a better understanding of the European dimension in teaching adults with literacy problems, • to enhance their knowledge of other European countries’ education systems and their provision of adult literacy • to improve the specific skills they require to teach literacy skills to adults.

  10. Intro from the Commission: More thanone in five 15-year-olds in Europe, as well as many more adults lackbasicreading and writing skills. This makes it harder for them to pursuelearning and to find a job, and putsthem at risk of socialexclusion. Aware of thisserious problem, the European Commission has taken action to helpimproveliteracylevels in Europe.

Objectives: The objectives of thisnetworkare to: • develop country specificknowledge; • facilitatetheexchange of goodpractice; • implementawareness-raisinginitiatives; • cooperatewithotherinstitutions and organisationsworking in thefield of literacyboth at national and EU level to promoteeffectiveliteracypolicies.

Target group: • Associations, foundations, national education authorities and other similar bodies working in the field of literacy; • National literacycentres; • Ministries of education and/or training; • Universities, higher education institutions or research centres working in the field of literacy.

  13. Practicalities • http://ec.europa.eu/education/calls/s0513_en.htm • Deadline: Aug 29th • at least 20 LLP participating countries, at least 15 EU Member States. • EU budget : EUR 3 000 000 (2013-2015) • Contribution from Commission < 75 % of the total eligible costs.

  14. Situationanalysis: • Significantoverlap, butalsodifferences • Empiricknowledge; 10 – 12 consortia • The role of AL in thefuturenetwork • Our strategy: ensurerepresentation!

  15. Your task: • Findoutwho in your country willparticipate in one of thebids • Findoutwhowould like to be in a bid • Send info to theEBSN’s EC • Let’s make sure thereare at least 3 EBSN institutions in thewinningbid.
