CERSAT : background • Satellite data center of IFREMER • Funded by ESA since 1991 as part of ERS-1/ERS-2 ground segment (archiving/processing of onboard AMI wind/wave mode, altimeter, ATSR/microwave sounder) • Conduct R&D activities • Remote-sensing : defining/improving algorithms to retrieve the geophysical/biochemical parameters (wind, wave, sea-ice, salinity, rain, chlorophyll, suspended matters), sensor calibration/validation and monitoring,… • Value-added products : fluxes, forcing fields with improved spatial/temporal resolution using geostatistical methods, data source merging/combination (satellite/model/in situ) • Quality assessment of the produced data • Tools to easier and promote usage of satellite data (browsers, dissemination tools,…) • Operational activities • Processing/dissemination of delayed-mode to real-time data Forum des Utilisateur des bases de données IFREMER – Brest, 25 Novembre 2005
