NOR LIKE THIS! Minnesota Phats um...I think I “overdid ” it a little!

And the next thing I knew, I went from being Minnesota Phats……
sooooooooooooo……… What is weight control?
Actually, WEIGHT CONTROL is the ability to keep your weight within a HEALTHY range. If you weigh TOO MUCH or TOO LITTLE, medical problems and diseases will occur.
NowTHISISWEIGHTCONTROL!!!! HOW TO WEIGH YOURSELF CORRECTLY l I can't believe I was doing it wrong all these years!
What is a “healthy weight” for me? • Check the BODY MASS INDEX chart to see if you are at a healthy weight. This chart measures your weight against your height, and is used in most doctors offices. • Healthy Weight = BMI 19-25 • Overweight = BMI 26-29 • Obese = BMI 30-39 • Morbid Obesity = BMI 40 and up
WAIST MEASUREMENT • Another easy way to check to see if you are at a healthy weight is to use a tape to measure your waist! • Place one end of the tape over your belly button and wrap around your waist.
WAIST MEASUREMENT A man’s waist should be = 40 inches or less. A woman’s waist should be = 35 inches or less. EXTRA INCHES ARE DUE TO AN UNHEALTHY WEIGHT!
UNDERSTANDINGOBESITY • INTRODUCTION • From 1991 until today, obesity has rocketed to epidemic proportions.
UNDERSTANDINGOBESITY * * * * In fact, excess weight has reached epidemic proportions all over world. * * * *
UNDERSTANDINGOBESITY The number of overweight and obese Americans has continued to increase since 1960…… a trend that is not slowing down!
UNDERSTANDINGOBESITY DEFINITION of OBESITY According to the basic laws of nature, our bodies need ENERGY to stay alive and function properly.
UNDERSTANDINGOBESITY We can only obtain this ENERGY from the foods we eat.
UNDERSTANDINGOBESITY If we eat more energy then we need, the excess energy will be stored as FAT!
UNDERSTANDINGOBESITY Therefore, "OBESITY"is the medical definition for excess body fat.
UNDERSTANDINGOBESITY This excess body fat is the result of an energy imbalance over a long period of time.
UNDERSTANDINGOBESITY This imbalance is due to a problem with our metabolism. Problems with metabolism can result in added pounds.
UNDERSTANDINGOBESITY When these extra pounds add up to 30 – then you are diagnosed as being “clinically obese!” Obesity = 30lbs. OVER your "normal" weight.
