  2. Plains of Abraham • Quebec defended by high stone walls • Food was scarce and French were cut off from food • French forced to fight invaders but all the best troops were in Beauport Shore

  3. “Thin Red Line” • British soldiers shoulder to shoulder, three lines in red uniforms • French line was stretched out and soldiers were tired and out of breath, ineffective shots • At 70 metres apart, British soldiers began to shoot. Every 20 seconds

  4. Victory? • General James Wolfe and Montcalm were both killed in this battle. • The French governor surrendered to the British commander, Quebec came under British control

  5. Articles of Capitulation • The French governor presented General Amherst with a list of demands to protect the inhabitants of Quebec

  6. Treaty of Paris, 1763 • French and British signed a peace treaty in Paris, ending the Seven Year’s War • New France remained a British colony
