  • Are Enzymes specific to a certain substrate? In other words, do enzymes work on more than one substance or do they specifically work on just one?

  • Enzymes are specific. They work on just one substrate.

  • Yes. Enzymes can work again and again.


How does temperature affect enzyme function

  • What happens when salt is added to an elodea leaf?

  • It pulls the water out of the cells. The cells shrink. This happens because the solution outside the cell is hypertonic and the solution inside the cell is hypotonic.
