  2. Student Code of Conduct Health and Safety • Students to go round in groups of 3 or more • Seat belts on coach/plane • Fire talk by hotel on arrival • Lock hotel rooms and no room swapping • Listen carefully to instructions e.g. meeting time • Emergency cards to be carried.

  3. Student Code of Conduct For a Smooth trip • No alcohol, cigarettes or illegal substances. • Damages to hotel rooms will be at parental cost- please tell staff on arrival of breakages. • Follow teachers’ and Guide’s instructions. • Be mindful of other visitors who may be wishing for a restful quiet stay in Berlin! • Hotel has a quiet policy after 10-00 p.m.

  4. Passport and EHIC cards • Please post passport and ehic card into red secure post-box on G floor week of 25th to 29th November. (Will be kept in school safe) Internet search for free ehic online application: www.nhs.uk/nhsengland/healthcareabroad • Need a copy of passport by Thursday 14th Nov. Also require if not handed in already… • Signed slip giving permission for paracetamol to be administered if required. • code of conduct and Parent consent form

Packing List 1 Hand Luggage 1 Main bag/case Up to max. of 20k Do not put anything in your case that you will need for the journey e.g. money, medication, inhaler • Bag max 50 x40 x20 cm • Medication/Inhaler ( please include prescription form or recent doctor letter & package so looks above board) • No sharp objects such as tweezers, nail scissors. • Liquid less than 100ml in clear plastic bag.

  6. Packing List Do bring Don’t bring Valuable items Alcohol Cigarettes Knives Travel iron • Warm clothing • Waterproof jacket • Comfortable shoes • Toiletries • European adaptor • Packed lunch/snacks • Inexpensive camera

  7. First Aid • Staff are First Aid trained • Basic kit supplied with plasters, bandages • Headache pills/ sore throat lozenges • Written parental permission required to administer paracetamol or prescription medicines. • EHIC card for visits to doctor or hospital • First aiders will look after spare labelled inhalers/prescriptions.

  8. Free time Opportunities at Christmas Market and lunch stops • Must go around in groups of at least 3 • Look for traffic left, right, left. • Emergency contact card

  9. Insurance Policy • Personal item max. value of £250 • BUT no pay out if no receipt proof of purchase and loss not reported to Police within 24 hours • Does not cover accidental damage or item left in an area unattended or unlocked room. • Does not cover replacement of mobile phones

Spending Money • Approx 60 to 100 Euro max. • Pocket Money bank will operate each day • Money to be banked en route to airport • Pocket bank funds will be kept in hotel safe along with passports • Hotel will not keep individual money • Money to cover snacks and 2 lunches. • Souvenirs/ gifts at Christmas Market • Soft drinks for some of the restaurants.

  12. Year 10 Tuesday 10th Dec • Meet on playground at 8-15 a.m. • Liverpool Easyjet flight approx 2 hours • Arrive at hotel- Meininger at 17-30 • 3 to 6 bedded rooms with en suite facilities • Evening meal at Hard Rock Cafe, then Christmas market at Alexanderplatz

  14. Food! • Buffet breakfast is continental style, so expect choice of cereal, yoghurts, breads and jam with hot drinks, fruit juice and maybe some fruit. • Main meals • Sometimes a 2 or 3 course. Some of the restaurants will include a soft drink. Please let me know in advance on the Parent Consent form of any dietary requirements/ allergies.

  15. Year 10- Wed 11th Dec • Buffet breakfast • Tram to Stasi prison, • Tram back to centre for lunch • Tour of Holocaust memorial, site of Hitler’s bunker, Reich Air Ministry, Topography of Terror, Bebel Platz. • Eve meal at Der Alte Fritz restaurant. • Visit to Checkpoint Charlie Museum

Year 10- Thurs 12 December • Buffet breakfast • Coach to depart for visit to Sachsenhausen concentration camp • Hot Lunch ( already paid for ) at Remus cafe • Return to Berlin- Olympic Stadium • East Side Gallery Berlin Wall • Evening Meal at Sixties Diner • Visit to Reichstag Dome for night skyline view.

  17. Year 10- Friday 13th December • Buffet Breakfast at hotel • Visit to DDR museum • Lunch • Coach depart for airport • 16-20 flight to Liverpool • 20-45 estimated time of arrival back at Benton Please park cars in sports hall car park and not on verges/ playground.

  18. Year 11- Wed 11th December 03-15 a.m. Arrive at school- bring packed breakfast. 12-00 midday Arrive for hotel check-in. Lunch at PotsdamerPlatz. • S bahn to see Bebel Platz, Topography of Terror, Reich Air Ministry building, site of Hitler’s bunker, Holocaust memorial • Eve meal at Hard Rock Café • Christmas market at Alexanderplatz.

  19. Year 11- Thurs 12th December • Buffet breakfast • Coach to East Side Gallery Berlin Wall • Olympic Stadium and Bell Tower • Hot lunch at Remus Café ( already paid for ) • Sachsenhausen concentration camp • Evening Meal at Sixties Diner • Visit Checkpoint Charlie Museum

  20. Year 11-Friday 13th December • Breakfast at hotel • Tram to Stasi prison • Tram back to centre for lunch • Visit to DDR museum • Evening meal at Marengo restaurant • Visit to Reichstag Dome

  21. Year 11- Saturday 14th December • Buffet Breakfast • 10-45 a.m. flight • Coach to airport • Lunch at airport/ or motorway services. • Arrive back at school at approx. 14-15
