  3. The Beginning • Apple was established on April 1st 1976 by Steve Jobs, Steve Wonzniak, and Ronald Wayne, to sell the Apple 1. • The Apple 1 was a personal computer kit designed by Wozniak. This was their first product.

  4. Lisa V.S. Macintosh • Apple then began working on the Apple Lisa in 1978. Jobs was kicked from the team and took over a low cost project, the Macintosh. • A race broke out between the Lisa and Macintosh team, to see who would ship first.

  5. Lisa • The Apple Lisa won the race in 1983 becoming the first personal computer with a Graphical User Interface. • But was a failure due to its extremely high prices and limited software.

  6. Macintosh • Once realizing how much of a failure the Apple Lisa was, they released the Macintosh in 1984. • It was announced by the famous 1.5 million dollar commercial aired during the 3rd quarter of Super Bowl XVII. • It was such a popular product, that they created a Macintosh Portable.

  7. Jobs Resigns • In 1985 there was a power struggle between Jobs, and CEO John Scuelly. He was informed to “contain” jobs and hold him back. • Steve Jobs resigned that same year and started NExT Inc. the same year.

  8. Decline of Apple • For some time apple did incredibly well. They introduced fresh new products and had plenty of income flowing in. • Apple started releasing “updated” products, that only left consumers confused and not understanding the differences between models. • Soon, other companies started catching up with the software of Apple, and sold their products for less cost. • For the next couple years apple started to go down the drain, until Spindler was replaced by Gil Amelio as CEO. He made a smart choice to purchase Next inc. bringing Steve Jobs back into the business. • Jobs then took over as CEO in the next two years and came up with one of the most popular products that changed the mobile world today.

  9. iPhone • In 2007 Apple released the first phone one of the most popular mobile phone lines in the world, the iPhone. • It was the birth of the Smartphone, a phone that can access apps, internet, calendars, and more. • The iPhones popularity continues to grow every day, in 2011 70% of US owned smart phones were iPhones.

  10. iPhone Facts • With each new iPhone made, Apple makes a new software for everyone to update, so all of the phones have the same type of software. • Next to Android it is the most popular Smartphone. • Types of iPhones • 1st Gen • 3G • 3GS • 4 • 4S • 5 • 5C • 5S
