The announcement of future incorporation into a large Logistic Corps - 1991 After the Gulf War in 1991, the Ministry of Defence decided that these organisations, with their separate functions, should be combined into one, to be called the Royal Logistic Corps. Since its formation in 1993, the Royal Logistic Corps has supported Britain's military commitments in the Former Republic of Yugoslavia (Bosnia and Kosovo), Northern Ireland, Iraq, Cyprus, Falklands Islands, Africa, Afghanistan and wherever the British Army is operating. MINISTRY OF DEFENCE On 23 July 1991 the Secretary of State for Defence announced that the Royal Pioneer Corpswould combine with the Royal Corps of Transport,the Royal Army Ordnance Corps, the ArmyCatering Corps and the Postal and Courier Service of the Royal Engineers to form a large Logistic Corps.

The Royal Logistic Corps • 11 Holders of the George Cross • The GC was instituted on 24 September 1940 by King George VI.[3] At this time, during the height of the Blitz, there was a strong desire to reward the many acts of civilian courage. • The GC is the highest gallantry award for civilians, the GC is also awarded to military personnel for those acts for which military honours would not normally granted, such as acts of gallantry not in presence of the enemy Come on the Micks

  23. The Royal Logistic Corps • The RLC has 1 holder of the Conspicuous Gallantry Cross • The CGC, is awarded "in recognition of an act or acts of conspicuous gallantry during active operations against the enemy". it may be awarded posthumously, Come on the Micks

The Royal Logistic Corps • The RLC has 6 holders of the Military Cross • The MC is granted in recognition of "an act or acts of exemplary gallantry during active operations against the enemy on land to all members, of any rank in Our Armed Forces”. In 1979, the Queen approved a proposal that a number of awards, including the Military Cross, could in the future be awarded posthumously. Come on the Micks

The Royal Logistic Corps • The RLC has 111 holders of the Queen's Gallantry Medal including 2 Bar Holders • The medal is awarded for "exemplary acts of bravery", and is primarily a civilian medal, although military personnel can receive it too.
