This is EIGA • EIGA is a safety, quality and technically oriented organisation representing the vast majority of European and also non-European companies producing and distributing industrial, medical and food grade gases. • The member companies closely co-operate in safety, quality and technical matters to achieve the highest level of safety and environmental care in the manufacture, distribution and handling of gases.

  3. Mission statement • EIGA shall … • maintain the highest standards of safety and concern for the environment at work and in the community • provide Authorities and Standardisation Bodies with expert advice on production, transport, storage and applications of industrial, medical and food gases • promote consistency of safety, health, environmental and technical standards throughout the gas industry

  4. Many gases are used in medical applications • Respiratory gases: oxygen, nitric oxide, helium • Anaesthetic gases: nitrous oxide, xenon • Diagnostic gases: carbon monoxide, acetylene, methane • Device gases: carbon dioxide, argon • Pharmaceutical gases: nitrogen

  5. Support to Authorities and Standardisation Bodies • EIGA provides Authorities (EU, UN, EMEA…) with professional advice in the preparation of laws and regulations concerning gases and pressure equipment.EIGA also initiates the development of appropriate standards and provides Standardisation Bodies (ISO, CEN, EDQM, EUROM VI…) with technical expertise.
