  4. Introducing the topic 1. Checking Comprehension:pg124  To check whether people understand what we mean, we use: • Short words • Sounds eg: yes right ah-hah

  5. Introducing the topic 2. Intonation:pg 126 • Falling Intonation: Expresses certainty eg: You are sure about what you are saying • Raising Intonation: Expresses Uncertainty eg: You are unsure of the answer 3.Paraphrasing pg 128

  6. Introducing the topic 3.Paraphrasing pg 128 Find Definitions of the words below such as: Argument,dry, brake, steer, dummy, subur, terrible, gas mileage, cool, carpool etc.

  7. Introducing the topic • STYLE: Checking Comprehension If we don’t understand what someone has said, you can check you comprehension by repeating the information you heard and asking the speaker if it is correct. eg: You think houses will be smaller in the future, right?

  8. Grammar: 2 Ways to express the Future tense: • Will -make predictions about the future • Be going to - ask questions Eg: 1. Education will be better in the future. 2. Education is not going to be cheaper. 3. Will more students come to our campus? 4. Are we going to have a quiz tomorrow? 5. Why are you going to quit from your job?
