  24. Exam questions • Name 5 performing skills (5) ABCD, FMSP, Confidence, timing, correct ASD 2. Define Balance (1) a steady or ‘held’ position 3. Define Projection (1) When a dancer gives out appropriate energy to connect with an audience and draw them into the performance 4. Describe how you have used the skill balance to enhance one of your own performances (3) Balance is a steady or held position. In the set dance, I performed a half pirouette and then a quick 180 turn. I needed to remain steady at all times so that I wouldn’t wobble or overbalance. This would have decreased the quality of my performance. This position ended in still/held position and it was important I remained balanced so that the ending was smooth, controlled and performed correctly.

  25. Explain how you could improve the skill flexibility in a lesson. Flexibility is the range of movement at a joint. In a warm up you could include some dynamic stretching such as lunges to the front and side. This would help improve flexibility at the hip joint. • In you group performance piece, explain how you used focus and sense of style to portray the theme of the dance (4) Focus is using eye line to enhance performance. In our group we made sure we always looked up to the audience to help portray the energy and commitment of our performance. Sense of style is using the correct style or characteristics within a dance. To do this we used actions such as brushing our hair back and leaning on one fist to show the human characteristics of rosas. We also performed with quick, sharp and explosive style dynamics to portray the rage and anger of the characters.
